Modeling Teachers International
Welcome to Modeling Teachers International!
Modeling Teachers International (MTI) is an international science-teaching organization and affiliate of the American Modeling Teachers Association (AMTA). Our mission is to create and implement programs that support science teachers across the globe. Specifically, MTI provides training and support for model-based approaches to science instruction, including the Modeling Method of Instruction pioneered by David Hestenes (1987).

Why a new organization? Scientific literacy is an international concern, but the name "American" in AMTA gives the impression that AMTA's efforts are confined to America. Not so! We serve teachers all over the world. The word "International" in MTI reflects our international mission.
Spring online course on Model Didactics (Modeling Method of Instruction)
We are happy to report that the online course, "Online Advanced Course in Model Didactics", sponsored the MTI and the Netherlands science-education groups Betapartners and NVON, is going well! The current class size is eighteen, with representatives from Egypt, Netherlands, and Latvia. Dates are January 13 - April 25, 2025 (15 weeks). Model Didactics addresses such basic questions as: What is a scientific model? What does scientific modeling look like in the science classroom? How can a focus on scientific models and modeling improve science learning?
